Dr. George Mensah Tetteh is a Senior Lecturer in The Department of Geological Engineering, University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa. He holds a PhD degree Geology, specialising in Geochemistry; MPhil in Geology (Structural Geology) and BSc (Hons.) in Geology with Physics. His research works have focused on: Stratigraphic Sequence in the Birimian; Genesis of Manganese Mineralisation in the Birimian of Ghana; Gold Exploration in the Birimian Supergroup; Structural Geology and Metamorphism of Dahomeyan, Togo, and Voltaian rocks; and Geo-metallurgy of Gold Ores. Currently, his studies are into meteorite petrographic research, with additional interest in the application of geological knowledge in archaeological investigations.
He had previously held the following positions at UMaT; Head of Department of Geological Engineering, University Training Co-ordinator and University Sports Co-ordinator. Prior to joining UMaT, Dr. Tetteh had held the following positions in industrial practice; Senior Geologist at Newmont Ghana Gold Ltd, Contract Field Geologist at Bureau Recherche Geologique Minière (BRGM), and Assistant Field Geologist at Tropical Exploration and Mining Company Ltd.
Dr. Tetteh has published widely in his field of expertise and related fields. He is a Fellow of The West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (WAIMM) and a member of the Ghana Institute of Geoscientists (GhIG).
